About
Strength Marks
In 2018, Strength Marks blossomed from a curiosity to answer the questions; Could sharing untouched photographs and candid stories fight back against toxic beauty culture? Could art and story telling begin to free us from the beauty standards that we've internalized for generations?
After only a few photoshoots, Strength Marks quickly bloomed into an internationally campaign about reclaiming body confidence, sharing journeys, and celebrating our scars as strengths.
Celebrating our Uniqueness
Strength Marks radically decorates the parts of ourselves we've been told to hide in an act to defy toxic beauty standards. By highlighting and decorating our bodies, we celebrate the parts of ourselves that make us who we are. The stories we share aim to cut through the noise of our time and remind us; no matter where you are in this world, loving yourself is a universal truth.
Turning our scars into Strengths
Behind the Camera
Like most women growing up, Zelda began to internalize toxic beauty culture and society's unattainable beauty standards. However, it wasn’t until I was in university that I really noticed how the women I championed in my inner circle were suffering too. .
Stretch marks, scars, and more
Originally focused on decorating stretch marks with biodegradable glitter, Strength Marks quickly evolved to celebrate scars of all kinds. The project has created space to share the stories behind pregnancy scars, surgeries scars, self-harm scars, and beyond. The project welcomes humans of all shapes, sizes, and colors - with or without scars.

Zelda is a California-based photographer, creative, and designer who's work focuses on amplifying purpose-driven stories that make our planet a better place. Over the last 6+ years, she has traveled from the Caribbean to Europe, passionately photographing and interviewing humans about their relationships with their bodies. She continues to run Strength Marks driven by the hope that her work will make our world a gentler place for the next generation.
